11 Month Update

Do we really have an 11 month old?? Wow!

Over the past few weeks Ashlyn has popped her third tooth (top left) and the top right is just about to break through also.  When her two bottom teeth came in, it was not problem -- one morning they just appeared.  These two are giving her a little trouble, mainly at night.  She's been waking up crying -- not getting up, just laying there crying.  I want to go in and rock her but I don't want to really interrupt her sleep so I've just been letting her fuss, then she's been falling back asleep.  I'm assuming it's her teeth since she never did this before those little suckers made an appearance.

Aside from all the wonderful things Ashlyn is doing (talking, cruising, almost walking, sleeping great, taking 2, almost 2 hour naps), she has started to show her little attitude a bit more too.  She now cries and cries when she doesn't get her way.   For example,  we bought her a new water table which is on our porch and she loves to play with that, and the dirt that's all around in our potted plants.  Playing with the dirt is fine but then she puts handfuls in her mouth along with the little rocks.  I watch her closely, then tell her no, move her and she throws a huge crying fit.  She also does this when I don't let her play with the computer.  I hate to see her cry but we really believe that she needs to learn that crying doesn't get you what you want.  So, what we've been doing during these tantrums is kissing her, telling her we love her but she can't play with... and then just letting her have her tantrum.  She eventually (like after a minute or two), finds a new toy and forgets why she's crying.   My Mom said I was the same way....oh boy.

Ashlyn is turning into such a big girl and her personality is big and beautiful.  She is stubborn and outspoken, but she also very sweet and lovey.   I think these are great traits to have as a girl.  We can't wait for the months to come when she starts walking, talking more and really showing us what she's got. :)
