New Mexico Trip

Earlier in August, we took Ashlyn on her first plane ride to New Mexico. My Grandparents live there (my Mom's parents), and they have never met Ashlyn so it was time. Since they are getting older, they don't like to travel anymore so they paid for us to come out and visit. My parents went out there too so we had a nice little family vacation.

I was really nervous for Ashlyn's first plane ride because she is sooo active. But, my seasoned traveling friends who are mommies gave me some great pointers. We bought Ashlyn some new toys that we didn't show her until we were on the plane - this one was great! We also brought a DVD player with us and brought the Elmo DVD. One the 4 flights we took all together, Ashlyn fussed a few times - but only to get down. When she realized that she really couldn't, she was fine. I sat against the window 3 of the 4 flights which Ashlyn loved! Overall, she did fantastic and now I feel like we can go anywhere!!

While in NM, we visited with a lot of my parents good friends and spent some good qt with my grandparents. We were lucky enough to be able to stay at the Rowlands house (a gorgeous ranch in NM on about 15 acres of land equip with their own playground, pond and mini-farm. We picked our food (tomatoes, corn, chilis, mint, kale) - it was all so yummy! We were all able to have our own rooms which was great! At night, after Ashlyn went to bed, us 'adults' would sit outside, have a delicious dinner, drink and look at the stars. Also, the Rowalnd's daughter Erica has 2 girls who Ashlyn played with a few times while we were there. Lucy (4), was so sweet and loved playing with us. And Charlie (Charolette), 20 mos, loved the "baby" too. It was a great, relaxing trip!
