Goodbye Nursing - Until Next Time
I recently stopped nursing Ashlyn -- I think around 11 months (I actually have been so busy I forgot exactly when). It was right before we left for our trip. Ashlyn weaned herself so I was TOTALLY okay with it. She dropped her 2 day feedings at about 9 months (she's just too much of a busy body to sit and nurse when there are things going on that she's missing. Wonder where she gets that)? I was then only nursing her in the am and before bed. Then around 10.5 months, she dropped the night time feeding (I just don't think I was producing enough). She would nurse and then say 'ba ba ma ma', so that was that. So that left just the am cuddle/nursing in bed which I loved and could forever. Then, one day, just like that she was over it! I also stopped pumping at about 10 months because there was just nothing -- I would pump and pump and get like 3 oz - kind of sad so I just stopped. I am very proud though that I kept pumping up for so long, as a working mom. I literally would pump while driving, pulled over on the side of the road, anywhere I could. To pump for 10 months is pretty dang good. So, until next time...
